Patrick J. Lynch, the union president, said at a news conference that the officers had been arrested on something “accepted at all ranks for decades.” He added: “Taking care of your family, taking care of your friends, taking care of those who support New York City police officers and law enforcement is not a crime. Period.”

I think I’ve got my circle layout for my friends figured out:
1) Friends who will will help me dispose of a body
2) Friends who won’t call the police if they find me with a body
3) Friends who will call the police if they find me with a body
4) Friends who should be bodies
