You can see the earnest confidence in the eyes of every single one of these people, and that’s the most heartbreaking part.  There isn’t an argument here that isn’t pretty trivially refuted, so it forces me to ask what their lives are like that nobody who loves them, who cares about them, who’s concerned with their wellbeing hasn’t sat them down and explained the simple things.

I don’t doubt that they’re surrounded by love, I just wonder how neither they nor their closest nor the closest to those have anyone willing and able to help them see the real beauty of all we know about the world.

  1. I see a more straightforward reason. Science and religion are disjoint. Science says nothing about religion because its underlying precepts are not falsifiable. There is no room for religion in science, just as there is no room for ballroom dancing in wood shop.

  2. I love this. I would write back “If you believe that there’s any evidence God exists. Please tell me more about how his/her/it was created/originated in the first place.”.

Isn’t it amazing when people avoid answering complex questions (origins of everything) by simply putting another layer of abstraction on top of it (God)?

It’s like God is the Linux kernel but no one seems to care about how the kernel really work, except that it’s easy to proof that the kernel exists.
