I ran out of steam on finishing this, but my key issue with this is that a religious person not performing a marriage is ok, that’s their freedom to do or do not. Codifying marriage to work like a religion defines it in our government is NOT OK.
There are a lot of areas where religious (mostly Christian) people fee they are under attack, but turns out a lot of things have been forced into place that shouldn’t have been. All the mentions of God on currency, the pledge, oaths of office, etc. are encroachments by religion on Government (and were not placed there by the Founding Fathers). I tend to view marriage restrictions based on sexual preference in the same boat.
I guess the price of freedom is vigilance, or something like that…
